Jackals are medium-sized members of the canine family, found throughout Africa, Eurasia and the Middle East. They are often seen in packs and are mainly scavengers, feeding on carrion, rodents and other small animals. Jackals are usually golden to light brown in color, with a long, bushy tail and pointed ears. They are very vocal, with a variety of howls and yelps used to communicate with each other. Jackals are highly social animals and some species form monogamous pair bonds. They are also very brave and resourceful, often outsmarting larger predators to get their food.
